I woke up this morning to a beautiful sunrise, and remembered God is still in office. The government is not the light of the world. I don’t put my hope in politicians to shine the light of Jesus. We, God’s people, are the light of the world and the salt of the earth.
As I see the sun reflected off Pikes Peak, I realize the Son bounces off me and radiates His beautiful character to those around me who live in this dark world.
As a kid, one of my favorite Sunday school songs was:
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam,
To shine for Him each day,
In every way try to please Him
At home, at school, at play.
I’m keeping that song in my heart today, and hope to reflect Jesus to everyone, in every way. His light shines in the darkness . . . and the darkness can never overcome it!
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you. All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see your radiance.” Isaiah 66:1-3
