Did God Really Say?

Unbelievable as it sounds, a woman hired someone to pour drain cleaner in her eyes to fulfill her lifelong desire to be disabled.

I’ve often said, “Nothing surprises me anymore.” Boy I was wrong!

This mental disorder is called transableism—the desire to acquire a disability through choice rather than happenstance. Some folks even desire to have healthy limbs amputated.

Many who suffer from transableism compare themselves to transgenders who feel they were born in the wrong body. Both have tragically lost touch with reality.

Christ followers recognize the enemy behind this hellish condition. He’s called “the father of lies.” John 8:44. He is the author of confusion—writing a horror story out of the lives of so many who have believed his lies.

“God is not the author of confusion but of peace.” 1 Corinthians 14:33.

Confusion is a state of mind that comes from hearing conflicting messages and not knowing which one to believe. Peace is also a state of mind. It comes from hearing God’s voice and believing what He says.

Eve had peace with God until Satan came with a conflicting message. He lied to her, telling her she wouldn’t die if she ate the fruit— instead, she would be like God.

Satan’s strategy hasn’t changed. He still tempts us with the same question, “Did God really say?” Did He really say the gender you were born with was correct? Did He really say if you don’t forgive others He won’t forgive you? Did He really say sex outside of marriage is that big of a deal?

Satan doesn’t want us to believe God always tells the truth and that His ways are best for us.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

When I’m feeling confused, I need to ask God what He thinks. My thoughts and feelings can’t always be trusted. So-called “experts” lie to us. Public opinion is a terrible path to follow. The majority is often wrong.

That’s why we need the Holy Spirit—for He reveals truth. That’s also why it’s vital we spend time really getting to know God’s written word, and agree with what He has said.

When we know and obey the will of God, peace displaces confusion every time.

It’s guaranteed!

“The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable.” James 3:17

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.” John 16:33.

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your perfect peace. I want to experience it more and more. Expose any lies I am currently believing. Speak to those confused areas in my mind that don’t agree with Your word.
