Look at all those wires screwed into my heart! These wires from my defibrillator are old and faulty so they need extracting. My doc says it’s going to be risky because heart tissue has grown around them.
Thankfully, the surgeon is making me his only patient that day so he can focus on what he called a “doozy” of a surgery.
My heart is at rest. I know my days are numbered by the Lord. This verse is so comforting:
“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” Psalms 139:16
The devil can’t take me out one day early. He can only harass me. This surgery is just another test of my faith.
Tests are given to reveal what we know and don’t know. This operation will show if I really believe “He controls my destiny.” Job 23:14.
Father has proven Himself faithful so many times in my life. I know He won’t fail me now. Whatever happens, He will work it for my good.
Marci and I thank you in advance for your prayers. My surgeon is heavily backlogged so I’m told the surgery will be in a couple months.
He called this a doozy of a surgery. A “doozy” means something is “extraordinary, remarkable, or the absolute biggest and best (or worst) of its kind.”
We are praying and believing the attempt to extract these old wires from my heart will be a remarkable success.
Why not? We serve a remarkable God!
Father, thank you for the peace we have, knowing our lifespans are determined by You. Thank You Jesus for defeating death and giving us eternal life. Help us to live each day as if it’s our last, as we eagerly watch for Your return. Until then, Holy Spirit, pour the Father’s love into our hearts until we spill on everyone we meet!
