I was talking to a friend who didn’t believe God still speaks to us. He told me everything we need to know from God is in the Bible.
Hey, I love the Bible— but God didn’t write it and then retire. He’s still speaking—I’m just not always listening.
Sadly, this friend couldn’t fully grasp that God loved him. He was frustrated by the apostle Paul’s prayer that we would, “know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge.” Ephesians 3:19
He would ask me, “How can I know something that surpasses knowledge? It doesn’t make sense!” When I told him it’s the Holy Spirit who brings the revelation of the Father’s love, he still wouldn’t believe me. It broke my heart. Nothing I could say could convince him God loved him.
I’ve talked to many believers who’ve told me they find it difficult to believe God loves them. I get it.
Without the help of the Holy Spirit, it’s impossible to grasp the depth of Father’s love, “because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” Romans 5:5
Not only does the Holy Spirit reveal Father’s love to us, He tells us about other things on God’s mind.
“No one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.” 1 Corinthians 2:11-12
Did you catch that? We have received God’s Spirit so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us!
Incredible! Thank You Holy Spirit!
I’m so glad God still speaks. Every day I can call on Him for wisdom and guidance. His line is always open.
Best of all, I can ask God, my Father, what He thinks about me.
Last I heard—He loves me as much as He loves His Son, Jesus!
Yep, you heard that right!
“Father…may they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.” John 17:23
