Marci and I took dance lessons years ago and loved it. Songwriter Irving Berlin wrote, “The best things happen while you’re dancing!” Well that depends on who you’re dancing with!
God loves dancing. There was dancing in the father’s house when the prodigal son came home. King David danced before the Lord. Psalms 149:3 says, “Praise His name with dancing.”
The Holy Spirit is the ultimate dance partner. Galatians 5:25 says, “keep in step with the Spirit.” Keeping in step with the Holy Spirit means drawing so close to Him we can feel when He moves and can hear His voice telling us when to turn.
We see examples in the book of Acts where the Holy Spirit leads believers with voice commands.
“The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.” Acts 8:29
“One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Appoint Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.” Acts 13:2
“The Holy Spirit told me to go with them and not to worry that they were Gentiles.” Acts 11:12
Can you see how the Holy Spirit wants to speak specifically to us throughout the day, directing our every move?
God’s plan from the beginning was for every believer to be led by the Spirit. When He leads, we experience power over sin, boldness to share the gospel, indescribable joy, and wisdom for every decision.
That’s right! The best things happen while we’re dancing…with Him!
“When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth.” John 16:13
“Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” Galatians 5:25 NLT
“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” Romans 8:14
“In Him we live and move and have our being.” Acts 17:28
Love this, Walt❤️

Excellent piece today. I love the dance analogy and will ponder this further, as well as the vivid Biblical wind / ruach metaphor. Thanks!

That picture really looks more like Laurel & Hardy than it does you & Marci. (However it’s been awhile since we saw eachother in person) 🙂

I have a photo of Marci and I dancing at our daughter’s wedding but couldn’t find it. Laurel and Hardy was the closest I could get! 😂
