My grandkids love to look through binoculars. There is something fun about seeing things far away that were impossible to see before. It’s like a superpower!
The staggering beauty of Jesus Christ is impossible to totally take in. It needs to be magnified. We must possess superpower vision to see how lovely He truly is. Come, Holy Spirit—the Divine Magnifier!
Scripture tells us what “no eye has seen” God now reveals “by His Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 2:9-10
Did you catch that? Without the Holy Spirit we can not see the awesome beauty of God. King David longed to see what the human eye could not see, so he prayed:
One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple. Psalm 27:4
David was a busy guy fighting wars and ruling a nation. Power and position however wasn’t his life’s main ambition. His greater desire was to leave the king’s palace and enter the temple and just sit and gaze at the beauty of the Lord.
To gaze means to stare. Do you ever take time and just stare at Jesus? By stare I mean meditate and contemplate the wonder of who He is and what He’s done. If we don’t stop and stare at Him, we will spend our time staring at inferior things, like ourselves, or our problems. I’ve done way too much of that! I need to stare more at the cross. Christ’s crucifixion seems so ugly until I realize it was love for me that held Him there. Stop and take time to stare at Jesus suffering on the cross. See His pain. Feel His love.
I also need to stare more at the empty tomb. It shows me that death couldn’t stop Jesus from being with me. Take time to gaze at the empty tomb and think about how His resurrection affects your eternity.
Do you ever sit and ponder what life will be like a million years from now, when we will be with Jesus? I’m overwhelmed that He desires to spend eternity with me! I need to stare at heaven more.
Now do you see it? Do you see the beauty of God’s unfailing love for you? May we be able to echo the words of the apostle John when he wrote:
We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14.
Holy Spirit, open my eyes to see what mere mortals can not see—the glory of the Lord!
We were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2 Peter 1:16
All of us, gazing with unveiled face on the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory. 2 Corinthians 3:18
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10
How beautiful! What a great reminder

Thanks for commenting Brad. How are Tara and Caleb doing?
I’ve been reading and listening to a messianic Jew named Rabbi Kirt Schneider. He talks a lot about how important it is for us to know the Jewish roots to our faith. Really has been faith building for me!
Have a blessed Resurrection Sunday brother. Long live the Lamb!👑

How deep God’s love is! How high and wide. No matter how powerful the telescope or microscope you use, you will never see the end. It goes on forever with new details emerging at every level.

So well put Daniel! The dimensions of God’s love are infinite. Only His children can begin to grasp it.
I love how Paul puts it when he says . . .
None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:8-10
Thank You Lord, for giving us the Holy Spirit to reveal how deep Your love is!
