Don’t Talk About It . . . Be About It

I’m blessed to be part of a brotherhood of amazing men who love putting their faith into action.

Last summer I needed help cutting, splitting, and stacking firewood from some downed trees on our property. I put the word out, and ten brothers showed up on a Saturday to help me. It was a fun day of working, eating, and enjoying each other’s friendship.

One of the brothers often reminds us, “Don’t talk about it. Be about it!”

He stole that message from the Bible.

“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” 1 John 3:18

Two of the men working that day kindly offered to return and help me assemble a carport kit. We spent a whole day building it. I couldn’t have done it without them.

These men possess the heart of Jesus. Their actions were not random acts of kindness. It was Christ’s sacrificial love for them that compelled them to sacrifice their time to bless my wife and I.

Once you’ve received the love of Jesus into your heart, you can’t contain it. You need an outlet where you can bless someone. Loved people love people! It’s that simple.

I’m so grateful for the friends God has blessed us with here in Colorado. When it comes to really loving one another, these guys don’t just talk about it…

They be about it!

A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.” Proverbs‬ ‭17‬:‭17‬ ‭

For the love of Christ compels us.” 2 Corinthians 5:14

“This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John‬ ‭15‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭
