Sharing Life Together

Our home is just 100 feet behind the house where our daughter, son-in-law, and five grandkids live.

Almost daily, Crosby, the youngest, comes over to see us. When he leaves, we are required to wave until he reaches his porch—then blow and catch kisses. He is so precious!

Crosby also can’t leave without a hug. If we forget, he always reminds us.

Crosby’s desire to be with us reminds me so much of Jesus.

The reason Christ came to suffer and die for our sins was simple. He wanted to be with us. Sin had separated us, and He hated that.

Jesus prayed, “Father, I want those You have given me to be where I am.” John 17:24.

When you love someone, you want to be with them.

Jesus told his disciples, “Come with Me privately to a solitary (wilderness) place, and let us rest for a while.” Mark 6:31

Jesus likes to take us into the wilderness—not to harm us—but so He can be alone with us, away from the crowds. Intimacy with His bride is His passion. He wants us all to Himself. That’s not selfish—it’s romantic!

We embody Christ’s love when we make time to be with those we love— laughing around a table, breaking bread, telling stories, and sharing each other’s joys and sorrows. It’s what the first Christians did regularly—and their deep love for one another multiplied and changed the world.

I hear Jesus saying, “Gather often with people, and share your life with them. Your presence alone will minister to them. Love them as I have loved you. Forgive them if they hurt you. Ask them what their dreams are—what they are thankful for—what they struggle with—and how you can help and pray for them.

Encourage them, honor them, and serve them.

And like Crosby… don’t forget to hug them when you part ways.

Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬ ‭

  1. Dearest Walt & Marci,

    thank you for your post.
I really hadn’t thought about in this way, how God wants us to himself.
Sometimes it unravels me how much He loves me.
    I am blessed.
