The Divine Sperm

From the moment of conception, every person has been infected with the tragic “sin” gene. It is hereditary.

“Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭5‬ ‭

“When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.” Romans 5:12

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a cure for sin? (Spoiler alert)

1 John 3:9 says, “No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him.”

The Amplified Bible translates God’s seed as “the divine sperm.” That’s right! I’ve been impregnated by God! There is someone living inside of me; but it’s not a baby!

The Greek word for this divine life is “zoe.” Zoe in scripture refers to the “divine, uncreated, and eternal life of God, rather than just biological life.”

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life (zoe), and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

Lawmakers have passed millions of laws throughout history, and humans have broken every one. The law is powerless to stop us from sinning.

God, however, has a remedy—it’s to impregnate us with His divine DNA—so that we “may participate in the divine nature” 2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬.‭

Amazing!

The difference between the saved and the lost is their natures. Through faith in Christ, I’ve been given a new divine nature. Sin doesn’t come naturally to me anymore. This new nature doesn’t make me sinless. But it does make me sin less.

Listen again to John. “No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him.”

We don’t have to make a practice of sinning. There is a cure..
