Divine DNA

Jesus said don’t be alarmed when nations go to war against nations.

The evil we are seeing throughout the world is simply the fallout of Adam’s sin. From the moment of conception, every person has been infected with the tragic “sin” gene. It is hereditary.

“Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭5‬ ‭

“When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.” Romans 5:12

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a cure for sin? (Spoiler alert)

1 John 3:9 says, “No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him.”

The Amplified Bible translates God’s seed as “the divine sperm.” I’ve been impregnated by God—and I’m glowing! There is someone living inside of me; but it’s not a baby!

The Greek word for this divine life is “zoe.” Zoe in scripture refers to the “divine, uncreated, and eternal life of God, rather than just biological life.”

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life (zoe), and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

Lawmakers have passed millions of laws throughout history, and humans have broken every one. The law is powerless to stop us from sinning.

God, however, has a cure. His remedy is to impregnate us with His divine nature. Through the indwelling Holy Spirit, God is reproducing Himself in a whole new race of people who carry His DNA.

Amazing!

When war breaks out between nations and people, I know the cause is genetic. They are living with Adam’s DNA. Scripture says, “All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.” Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬

The difference between the saved and the lost is their natures. Through faith in Christ, I’ve been given a new divine nature. Sin doesn’t come naturally to me anymore. This new nature doesn’t make me sinless. But it does make me sin less.

Listen again to John. “No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him.”

We don’t have to make a practice of sinning. There is a cure. But it won’t come through medicine. It won’t come through laws, or lectures.

It comes through God’s seed.

His divine life.

“Whoever has the Son has life (zoe); whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.” 1 John‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬ ‭

“In Him was life (zoe), and that life was the light of all mankind.”John 1:4

“…the gift of God is eternal life (zoe) through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

“The written law brings death, but the Spirit gives life. (zoe)” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬ ‭

“…you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬ ‭
