So What Changed?

One reason it’s hard to trust politicians is that their beliefs often shift with the changing culture. Here are a few examples…

In 1996 Chuck Schumer argued for photo ID, to ensure voters showing up at the polls were who they said they were. Today he says voter ID is racist. What shifted in his mind?

In 2008 the POTUS said, “I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage.” Four years later he changed his mind. Why?

In 2014 the POTUS eloquently said, while passing an immigration bill, “If you’re a criminal, you’ll be deported. If you plan to enter the U.S. illegally, your chances of getting caught and sent back just went up. The actions I’m taking are not only lawful, they’re the kinds of actions taken by every single Republican President and every single Democratic President for the past half century.”

Then in 2020 a new president ignored immigration laws, and opened the borders, causing chaos and mayhem. Why?

Their are many reasons, but one was because the culture had shifted.

For decades, Hollywood has gradually been reshaping culture. Through constant exposure to ungodly ideologies, Hollywood has normalized behaviors that once were viewed unfavorably.

Besides the changing culture, politicians are often like chameleons, at times conforming to their surroundings, aligning with the ideologies they think will gain them the most power.

Scripture says, “Do not be conformed to this world.” Romans 12:1. Another version says, “Don’t let the world squeeze you into its mold.”

It takes courage to not conform to the ways of the world. Fear of losing friends and family often makes us want to blend in with the masses. Jesus said the road to life is narrow and few travel it.

It would be easy to get upset at those who conform to the ever-changing culture. That’s just what the devil would want.

Instead, let’s turn our eyes on Jesus, the One who never changes.

Let’s love the timid and weak who fear man more than God.

Thankfully, we are witnessing a Spiritual awakening in our nation. I have met so many people who no longer care what the world thinks. Their primary passion is to please God.

Truth never changes—so I won’t let the world squeeze me into its mold. Instead, I will let God shape me into His mold—which is the image of Christ.

God is the potter, and we are His clay.

When He shapes us, the result is always a Masterpiece!

“Do not be shaped by this world; instead be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.” Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭NCV‬‬
