Say Thank You

Years ago Marci and I wrote a song encouraging kids around the country to, “Say Thank You” (for all that comes your way.)”

Thankfulness begins in the heart, but its power is not fully released until it is spoken.

Paul and Silas had been flogged within an inch of their lives for telling others about Jesus. Thrown in a dark dungeon with their hands and feet in chains, what did they do? Instead of moaning about it, they sang songs of thanks and praise to God, and their chains broke—literally!

Paul and Silas could have silently sat in the dungeon with thankful hearts, but I wonder if God would have still freed them. It was not until they opened their mouths to proclaim what was in their hearts that God delivered them.

Again . . . thankfulness begins in the heart, but its power is not fully released until it is spoken.

Could that be what Paul meant when he wrote . . .

“For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬

Being saved is more than just going to heaven. Salvation means deliverance from evil—not just when we die, but right now. God delivers us daily from fear, anger, and worry—the moment we open our mouths to thank and praise Him.

“The tongue has the power of life and death” Proverbs 18:21.

Satan can’t read our minds but he can hear our words. Our tongue is a weapon.

The next time the enemy tries to imprison your thoughts, say, “Thank You Lord Jesus for making me more than a conquerer.” The devil will hear you and explode with rage. But God too will hear you.

Then, just like Paul and Silas, your chains will break and you will be free!

“And they conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Revelation‬ ‭12‬:‭11‬ ‭‬‬

“His praise will always be on my lips.” Psalm 34:1

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭
