Till We Meet Again

I recently lost one of my dearest friends, Brad Smith. Actually, I didn’t lose him. I know right where he is… with Jesus.

Brad was a successful businessman, but he knew his real worth wasn’t determined by what he owned, but by Who owned him. The grace of God had transformed his life and made him want to give that grace to everyone he met. Many people are going to be in heaven because Brad loved them enough to tell them what Jesus did for them on the cross.

Brad was a beautiful reflection of Christ. I’ve never met a more kind and generous person in my life. Countless were the times Brad was there for Marci and I when we needed help or advice.

Brad knew it was unwise to become too attached to things that wouldn’t last forever. If he could speak to us now, I know he would echo Paul’s words…

“Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away. I want you to be free from the concerns of this life.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭31‬-‭32‬ ‭

Brad believed God’s word, that all the stuff of this world is temporary. Only love would remain. He had his sights set on heaven. Now he is enjoying the rewards of all the love he invested into others. Best of all, he is enjoying the glorious presence of his Lord, Jesus.

Happy Graduation Day my friend. You graduated with honors! I miss you so much, but I know I’ll see you again soon!

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭

I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” John 11:25

“Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.” Matthew 10:32

  1. Thank you for sharing this experience. We all face grief at some point in this life. The good news is that we don’t have to face it alone. Jesus will stick closer to us than friend. What a wonderful counselor.
