I’m missing my father-in-law Don today. He was such a loving man. A simple chorus Don taught me years ago has become my heart’s prayer. It goes…
“Let Your Love flow through me. Let Your love flow through me. Make me a blessing Lord wherever I may be. Keep me pure. Keep me clean, so that You may be seen. Let Your love, Your love flow through me.”
That song reminds me of Philippians 1:9. “I pray that your love will overflow more and more.”
Love truly is an overflow of the heart. The fuller we are of God’s love, the harder it is to contain it. It just spills out! That’s why I call my writings HeartSpills. Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. Or in my case, the keyboard types!
I can relate to Peter and John. The love they had received from Christ was too good to keep to themselves. When the authorities commanded them never again to speak or teach about Jesus, Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “We cannot help speaking about what we have actually seen and heard!” Acts 4:20
When you’re filled with the Holy Spirit it’s hard to shut up!
Of course it’s difficult to let God’s love flow through us constantly. Some days life is draining. People can be draining! Even Jesus had to withdraw at times so He could just be with His Father. That place of intimacy was His filling station.
Friend, are you feeling drained by people or circumstances? You want God’s love to flow through you but it seems there is a kink in your hose.
I pray today you make time to get alone with God and let Him love you. Take a break from all the distractions this life throws at you and quiet your heart before Him. Read the love letter He wrote you. Soak in it!
Remember…
Father‘s filling station is open 24-7.
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” 1 John 3:1
“We love because He loved us first.” 1 John 4:19
“Live a life of love. Love others just as Christ loved us.” Ephesians 5:2
“God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” Romans 5:5
I write more about loving others in my post, “Love Matters Most.”
What wonders he must be experiencing!! God Bless and Amen

Thank you, don’t believe Don ever shared that song. Sincerly,
