My father served in World War II with the U.S. Army tank destroyers. Their motto was – Seek. Strike. Destroy. Long before that war, the Son of God had a seek, strike, destroy mission that would change the world.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost, by striking and destroying the evil hold Satan had over our lives. We are told, “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.” 1 John 3:8
When His mission on earth ended, Jesus told His disciples, “As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” John 20:21
We who follow Jesus are part of His military operation. I call it Operation Kingdom Come. Together we are sent by Christ to destroy the evil works of the devil.
Have you destroyed anything evil lately?
It’s war time. Many of my friends are being pummeled emotionally by the enemy. I have felt the attacks as well.
This battle is not against a flesh and blood villain, but against an invisible enemy who is trying to discourage us. This is not a time to be passive. It’s time to rise up in the power of the Holy Spirit and take the authority we have been given as children of God.
Remember, “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:4
This war won’t be won by our own strength or wisdom, but by the Holy Spirit living through us. Yes, the Lord will fight for us, but we still have a big part to play in the battle. Scripture says, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” Romans 16:20. Did you hear that? God does the crushing, but He uses our feet to do it!
Dear friends, we have authority to stomp on those demons of depression and fear who torment us and our loved ones. But we can’t fight this battle alone. I need you and you need me.
“Two are better than one. Pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12.
Together, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us!
So join the army! Raise a battle cry!
In the name of Jesus the victory is ours!
“The Lord will march forth like a mighty hero; he will come out like a warrior, full of fury. He will shout his battle cry and crush all his enemies.” Isaiah 42:13
“Thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.” 2 Corinthians 2:14
Great blog, Walt! You strengthened me with your words. Love the picture of your father by the tank. My parents both served during WWII, both in the Army, Mom as a nurse. They met in the service and married in their dress uniforms on the first Veterans’ Day, 1945. You are right about the warfare we Christians are facing today. The enemy has been attacking me physically for quite a while now. I haven’t shared this with anyone else, but the thought has crossed my mind that it would be easy to just sneak out the back patio door in the middle of the night and let myself fall asleep. It was 0 degrees earlier this morning. I would be free of this unrelenting pain and with Jesus before the morning light. But the Holy Spirit showed me how awful that would be for Marc, and I immediately set my mind against it. The Lord is allowing this for a purpose, and I want to be His faith-full foot soldier! I hope you’re recovering well from your recent surgery, my friend. You are a blessing.
