An alarm inside my chest has gone off every morning this week, telling me it’s time for surgery to have my defibrillator battery replaced.
I hope someday they can invent a rechargeable battery. Someone suggested they put a solar panel in my head!
We all require electricity flowing through our hearts to keep us alive. I just need a little extra.
According to God, our hearts can be beating but we’re not really living. Jesus said, “I came, that you might have life.”
Who needs life? Dead people. “Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins.” Ephesians 2:1
You might say we were born batteries not included, and the Holy Spirit is the battery needed to truly live. Here’s proof.
“I will put my Spirit in you and you will live.” Ezekiel 37:14
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh provides no benefit.” John 6:63
Like a flashlight without a battery, we don’t function without the Holy Spirit. We need a power from outside to come inside us.
Enter, Holy Spirit. The divine defibrillator!
Once we receive Him in, it is vital we give Him our attention. The Holy Spirit is a real person who wants to interact with us and have an intimate friendship with us. He reveals God’s thoughts, and guides us into all truth.
Neglecting my defibrillator’s low battery alarm could prove deadly. Even worse, neglecting the Holy Spirit will prevent me from living the Spirit-empowered life; a life full of love, joy, peace, and all the wonderful fruit of the Spirit we were created to enjoy.
Wouldn’t it be great if every morning an alarm inside us would remind us to interact with the Holy Spirit?
Oh wait! We do have an alarm inside us. Each morning and throughout the day the voice of the Holy Spirit speaks to us, inviting us to walk with Him, talk with Him, and be led by Him.
The real question is… are we listening?
Holy Spirit, I recognize Your voice today, inviting me into intimacy with You. Electrify and empower me to live a life that pleases You. Energize me so I’ll be “ever-ready” to love others like Jesus does!
“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says …” Revelation 3:22
“Those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.” Galatians 6:8
“May … the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:1
Walt do you know about the med beds? Love you buddy.
