The Best Investment Ever

Recently, Marci and I learned we were swindled out of a large sum of money we had paid for a tiny house. The company’s president blew it on race cars and trips to Las Vegas. Ouch!

Father warns us, “Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.” Proverbs‬ ‭23:4-5‬ ‭

Boy did we learn that truth the hard way. Still, I will rejoice and be thankful, knowing this is just another test of our faith, designed to mature us and make us more like Christ.

The Lord uses trials and tests to wean us off this world. He says, “Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away. I want you to be free from the concerns of this life.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭31‬-‭32‬

It is so easy to get attached to money and possessions. Better to store up riches in heaven, which can’t be stolen.

“What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18. So what are those unseen things?

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭13‬ ‭

Love will last forever! Loving the people God puts in our life is the best investment we will ever make.

Showing kindness to a stranger. Taking time to call a friend who needs encouragement. Do you know someone who has just lost a loved one? Why not call them this week and let them know you are thinking of them?

God wants to fill us with all of His fullness. Not just so we can go to heaven, but so we can bring heaven to earth. We are Christ’s ambassadors, sent to show the world how much He loves them.

Getting swindled out of money taught us some valuable lessons. Most importantlyit is far better to invest your time, energy, and resources into loving people.

That’s an investment you will never regret!

“Love one another. As I have loved you.” John 13:34

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Matthew 24:34-36

  1. So sorry that happened!!

Your willingness to share this is a wonderful example of sharing your life experiences with others so that they will learn.

You keep it 💯, as we who come from the streets and allowed JESUS to be transformed by the renewal of my mind.

What I have always loved about you and Marci is your transparent testimony.

  2. Thanks for sharing. So sorry this happened to you and Marci. Having my account compromised several times, it was no where near your situation. It’s a comfort knowing God is with us all the time, and will continue to guide y’all through this and other difficult situations. Love is the key.

  3. Wally,

Reading your testimony about getting swindled out of money triggered my soul. I have desired to make a tiny home for a few years now; even more so after living in Thailand for so long. I’ve changed so much.

My heart ached when I read that you were taken advantage of and that a dream had been crushed. Yet, as usual, you are showing where God is in between the lines of life’s many circumstances. I know that this situation probably really hurt. I know that you had to put the flesh to death as you battled in thought. I know that you had to be careful in the way that you bled out in communication the disappointment, anger, and possible ‘pay-back’ temptations. I know that you had to choose to cling to the Lord during the awareness of this deception.

I also know that you and Marci kept each other accountable and steadfast to cling to the Lord. I’m sure of it!

I’m praying for you both as you settle this issue in your heart. That the two of you will be able to live joyously as you bounce back from this temporary pain. That you look forward to the ‘tiny house’ that will be yours in heaven’s kingdom. It might even be a mansion.

    Blessings to you both..

    1. Thank you so much Zina for your kind words. It’s definitely been a test of our faith, but God has taught us so much through this. What was really hard was this company was a Christian owned company. Holy Ground Real Estate. I am so glad God works all things together for those who love him. Hope you get your tiny house someday!! Love you. How are you and Danny doing? I know you were going through some rough times not that long ago. Hugs from Colorado!❤️
