Jesus for President

“When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.” Proverbs‬ ‭29‬:‭2‬

So true. But what do you do when there are no godly leaders to vote for? Some people I talk to have so little hope, they’re not even going to vote this election. That’s sad.

These truly are dark days. When there seem to be no godly candidates running, here is my approach to voting. First, I pray for wisdom. Second, I look at the positive and negative results of the policies of those running for office. “Wisdom is proved right by its results.” Luke 7:35.

Certain policies result in chaos, making the lives of people miserable. We saw that happen in San Francisco where progressive leaders decided not to prosecute shoplifting. Anyone with half a brain could have predicted the results. Many stores shut down or left town due to the increased amount of theft. This tragedy could have been prevented by wise policies enforced by wise leaders.

Other policies result in great opportunity. School choice, tax cuts and deregulation to help businesses be more profitable are just a few.

Free market capitalism has resulted in alleviating poverty far more than government aid has. Despite America’s deplorable history of slavery and racism, there are at least 35,000 African-American millionaires today. Government welfare programs, no matter how noble they may appear, didn’t achieve that. Capitalism did. For that reason I will cast my vote for candidates who don’t think big government is the answer to our problems.

Third, I will vote for the politician whose policies come closest to what God values?

The Lord commands us to help (not enable) the poor, and protect the weak. The weakest and most vulnerable people in our society are the children inside and outside the womb. The psalmist wrote…

“You saw me BEFORE I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out BEFORE a single day had passed.” Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭16‬ ‭

Jesus chose to enter the world through a uterus. In the womb He was more than a fetus. So is every person ever conceived. That is why I vote for the candidate who is most against the murder of pre-born children. “Speak for those who cannot speak; seek justice for all those on the verge of destruction.” Proverbs 31:8

Jesus said to not mess with His kids! (See Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭6‬) Children are a big deal to God. They should be a big deal to us and our government as well.

Which political candidates are working to stop the confusion and mutilation of young children suffering from gender dysphoria? Which candidates are good with children being taken from parents if those parents won’t affirm their child’s gender choice? Answers to those questions will determine who I vote for.

One day Jesus will reign, not as president but as King of Kings. Every knee will bow. What a day that will be! Until then, though every candidate is flawed, I will still vote. It’s one of the greatest responsibilities we Americans have.

Of course I’m not expecting any candidate to usher in God’s kingdom. At best, perhaps they might slow the descent and delay some of the suffering progressive policies bring.

Whoever gets elected, I will pray they fear God more than the people they govern. It’s that holy fear that will be their motivation to govern God’s way.

And God’s way is always the best.

“Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.” Proverbs‬ ‭9‬:‭10‬ ‭

  1. I agree with you brother, some things are too far left and some things are too far right. I believe that GOD gave us free will, what we do with that gift is totally our own decision.

Very much like recovery we get what we invest our time in. San Francisco is too liberal, while St. Louis is too controlling. Both interfere with free will. I think not voting is even more dangerous.

Trump wants to get rid of social security and causes strife and division. Harris wants to support abortion and legalize transgender rights. Both are extremist.

    1. Thanks, Tim for replying. I always appreciate your insight. Don’t you wish there was someone running whose greatest desire was to please God? Sadly, I’m sure they wouldn’t get elected. Someday Christ will reign! Until then we just keep loving each other and pray for our leaders, no matter who they are.

  2. YRon DeSantes is a professing Christian. So is Nikki Haley. Yet Trump wiped out both in the primary. A true Christian Mike Pence has come out and stated Trump is dangerously unfit for office. He then received death threats. No president has attended church more than Joe Biden. I guess Catholics can’t be Christians. Just recently Kamala Harris reached out to her lifetime Pastor in the Bay Area asking for prayers. I understand being Pro Choice is viewed last being Pro Abortion. I am Pro Life. But I can guarantee wealthy white men from Christian churches have paid for an abortion for their 17 years old daughter while publicly standing against abortion. Trump could care less about the unborn. I’m sorry I’m not afraid of the “Boogie Man”Antifa. I hear nothing but LIES and hated from Trump. Doesn’t seem like anything close to even Godly principles. The Republican who best lives out Godly principles and values is a Mormon. Mitt Romney. There’s so much more I could write, but I will leave it alone for now.
