MVP

Our grandkids love the outdoors. One Saturday we were at a park, feeding the ducks, climbing trees and hitting Wiffle balls. Several children there asked if they could play ball with us. We of course were delighted they asked.

Seven year old Ian was still wearing his baseball uniform from an earlier game that day. I asked him how his game went. He asked me if I knew what an MVP was. It was obvious he wanted me to know he had been voted Most Valuable Player of his game that morning. As Ian started hitting balls with us I soon realized why he was MVP!

No matter our age, don’t we all want to be recognized as valuable and significant? I know I do. When we discover our value, our sense of self-worth rises and life is a lot more fun.

Good news! Our value isn’t determined by how well we play ball or succeed in life. Our worth is based on what someone is willing to pay for us.

Yeah, you see where I’m going!

Our Heavenly Father saw our value and purchased us for Himself. Jesus paid the highest price when He suffered and died on the cross to pay our ransom. Others may not see your value. You may not think highly of yourself. The fact is, the only opinion that really matters is God’s.

Father calls us His Masterpiece! That means we are the Most Valuable Piece in His collection, the Master’s portfolio. That’s an MVP title worth celebrating!

Father, help us to see our value through Your eyes! We want to see what You see in us!
