A Woman Who Fears the Lord

Marci and I met in a music group in the 70s. She sang and I played keyboards. She says she first fell in love with my talented hands. I first fell in love with her beautiful face.

Among her many talents, Marci founded Marci Beaucoup® where she fabricates custom textiles for designers and homeowners.

One time, Marci was with some of her sewing buddies when one of the women began to talk badly about “those church ladies” in their group. After listening for a while, Marci said, “Hey! I’m a church lady!” The woman replied, “No, you’re not! You’re a God lady.”

I love that!

Isn’t it sad that the words “church” and “God” are not always synonymous? Unfortunately, not every person who calls themselves a “Christian” acts like Christ. You’ll know a tree by it’s fruit. Many people we meet are turned off to “church” but they are interested in Jesus.

Jesus is undeniably the most wonderful person to ever walk the earth. No one in history loved people like He did. He wasn’t a church man. He was the God Man! He said “Anyone who has seen me, has seen the Father.” If you want to know what God is like, just look at Jesus.

Jesus also said, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” John 20:21. Followers of Christ today have the same mission He had. We are to show others what God looks like. People see Him when they see us love and serve others, treating them better than they deserve, because that’s what Christ did for us.

Earlier I told you I first fell in love with Marci’s beautiful face. It wasn’t long until I fell in love with her beautiful heart. At times I’m in awe of the way she loves Jesus and everyone she meets. Her authentic love shows others (like her sewing buddies) what God is like. Spend time with her and you’ll know what I mean. She really is a God lady!

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.” Proverbs 31:30

  2. Thank you, Walt, for always returning our attention to what and who is truly beautiful. The world insists it is only skin deep but those who have eyes to see beneath the surface can see the beauty of God, the face of Jesus, beaming through and drawing our hearts. You are the light of the world, said Jesus to His devotees. May His brilliance radiate in today’s world which is starving for true beauty!

Next to Jesus Marci is the greatest gift you have received! You are blessed beyond measure!

  4. Yep, beauty indeed is fleeting. The love of God within oneself brings about a beauty that goes beyond the skin, beyond the moment, into eternity.
