Let’s Frolic!

“But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.” Malachi 4:2.

Some Bible versions use the word “frolic” instead of leaping for joy in that verse. Some say, “skipping” and others, “playfully jump.” Any way you read it, you get the ideaJesus is aliveso bust a move!

Like sheep penned in behind a gate, we were once trapped behind bars, enslaved to our selfish desires. Jesus, the Sun of righteousness has risen with healing in His wingsto open the prison doors so we can run free, and frolic to our heart’s delight.

Religion is a downer, a weight around the neck. Religion says, “Do better so God will accept you.” A holy fear of the Lord leads to an intimate relationship with Himthe exact opposite of religion. His love lifts us out of performance mentality and into gratitude mentality. Now we can frolic in His presence, because—“In your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore!” Psalm 16:11

The pasture we’ve been invited to roam in is the Kingdom of God, a place of “righteousness, peace, and JOY, in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:17

If you’ve been feeling weighted down lately by the cares of this world, give them to God. If you’re feeling trapped in religion, fearing you’re never good enough, throw off that burden.

The truth is we were never good enough. In fact, we were horrible, evil sinners, deserving to be behind bars. But God . . .

But God had mercy on us. He loved us so much, that even when we were sinners, Christ died for us. He has forgiven our rebellion, opened the locked gate, and is now wooing us out of the stall to come play with Him in His green open pasture, the Kingdom of Joy.

The Son has set us free! Come on! Let’s frolic!

“You will be as free and happy as calves let out of a stall.” Malachi 4:2
