Jesus is the Answer

I first met my wife in 1976 at a band rehearsal. We performed just one evening concert, opening for Grammy winning Gospel artist André Crouch at the Concord Pavilion. Yes, Marci and I first met for a one night stand!

One of André Crouch’s biggest songs back then was Jesus Is the Answer. The title begs the question, “He’s the answer to what?” If Jesus is the answer, what is the question? Here’s my short list:

Who can break the stronghold of addiction in peoples lives? Jesus.

Who can heal every disease? Jesus.

Who can take away the shame and guilt we feel for our wrong choices? Jesus.

Who can do the impossible? Jesus.

I’ve seen miracles in my life that can only be attributed to Jesus. I saw a friend’s marriage restored when his wife forgave him for having a long adulterous relationship. Only Jesus!

Many of my friends have been freed from anger, drug addiction, homosexuality … all because of Jesus.

I saw my mom miraculously recover from a massive brain stem stroke when the doctors had urged me to take her off life support and I refused. God had told me to pray, believing. They had no answer to how she was healed. I knew the answer…

Jesus.

André Crouch, who himself struggled with addiction, wrote this verse in the song Jesus is the Answer.

If you have some questions

Traces of discouragement
And peace you can not find
Reflections of your past
Seem to face you every day
Well this one thing I know for sure
Jesus is the way!

That’s right. Whatever problem you are facing, there is a way to overcome it. There is someone who can give you the wisdom, the peace and the joy you are searching for.

His name is Jesus! He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

He is the answer!
