A Dream Come True

Our beloved Papa Don kept his joy to the end, even though his health drastically declined. Someone jokingly said, “The best thing about old age is it doesn’t last very long!”

Don had a dream he was part of a group arriving by boat to their destination. As they were docking, a crowd came to welcome them. One person in the crowd was Don’s grandfather, who Don remembered in life walked with a limp. No longer limping, Grandpa welcomed the new arrivals with open arms, shouting, “They’re here! They’re here!”

Don’s dream has finally come true!

We’ve had several loved ones arrive in heaven lately. Perhaps you have too. It’s sad to say goodbye to those you love, but the sorrow turns to joy when you think of the wonderful things they are experiencing now. The apostle John described it:

God Himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain.” Revelation‬ ‭21‬:‭3-4

Thanks to the greatest Father-Son team in history, death is not the end of the story. The Son died and His Father raised Him from the dead so whoever believes in Him and does His will would be with Him forever.

This life we live is so important. Don humbly admitted to me he made lots of mistakes in his life that he regretted. Haven’t we all?

The one thing he got right was surrendering his life to Christ.

He knows that for sure now!

“I am going to prepare a place for you. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.” — Jesus

I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” John 11:25
