Love Matters Most

Our grandkids have captured our hearts and won’t let go. We love them so much we sold our house and moved to Colorado just to be close to them. When you love someone deeply, you’ll do anything to be near them.

Jesus proved that point. He loved us so much He suffered and died so we could be near Him. It’s as if He couldn’t live without us. Now that’s love!

When leading worship, Marci and I have always made it a priority to tell people how much God loves them. His love is why we worship. “We love Him because He first loved us.” 1 John 4.19

I’ll never forget the man who approached me one Sunday morning after we had led worship. He said in essence, “You talk a lot about the love of God. When can we move on to more important things? We understand God’s love already.”

Really? Do any of us really understand how much God loves us? It’s a love “that surpasses knowledge.” Ephesians 3.19

I grasp the importance of knowing other aspects of God, like His holiness, His hatred of evil, and His unfathomable wisdom. However, every aspect of His nature stems from His love for us.

So I admit I talk a lot about the love Christ has for us. I can’t help it. His love is the most important thing I know and I don’t want anyone to miss it. For if you miss His amazing love for you, you’ve missed everything.

But if you grasp it, you’ll never be the same again!
